Park Details:
Early settlers in the Animas River valley misnamed the site because they thought that the Aztecs of Mexico originally built the site. The site includes a ruin of what was once a multi-story pueblo of about 400 rooms. The name persists even though the Anasazi, ancestors of today's Pueblo Indians built and occupied the community.
