A land of desert and mountains cuts through the Rio Grande. Big Bend National Park is a study in contrasts. It is home to a desert amphibian, Couch's spadefoot toad, a mosquito fish that lives in just one pond in the partk, and a bird, the road runner that would rather run than fly.
