Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield commemorates a battle initiated by Union forced to keep General Nathan Bedford Forrest's Confederate troops from disrupting General William Tecumsah Sherman's supply route. Although Gen. Forrests troops routed the Federal forces, the Union objective was met and Sherman's supply lines remained open.
