Park Details:
The Castle Clinton began as the South-West Battery in 1811. The fort was built during 'fortification fever' that swept New York after the British attack on the Chesepeake. This attack was prior to the War of 1812. It was later used for public entertainment, an immigrant depot and an aquarium.
