This Memorial is a testament to the vision of a continental United States that President Thomas Jefferson had. It includes exhibits, films and artifacts to help visitors understand westward expansion in the 19th century. The memorial contains the Gateway ARch, the tallest manmade monument in the United States, which symbolizes St. Louis' role as the Gateway to the West.
