Park Details:
A British fort built in 1758 to protect the Oneida Carry portage, Fort Stanwix was rebuilt in 1776. The fort was rebuilt just in time for the 1777 British siege that lasted form August 3 to August 22 when the British troops heading to join British General Burgoyne retreated to Canada instead. The fort has been reconstructed to its 1777 appearance.
