Park Details:
The name Great Basin derives from a drainage peculiarity. Over most of the area, streams and rivers unable to find an outlet to the sea form shallow salt lakes, marshes and mud flats where the water then evaporates. The Park also contains the 13,063 foot Wheeler Peak, abundant wildlife and numerous limestone caverns, inlcuding Lehman Caves.
