Park Details:
Johnstown a steel company town with a population fo 30,000 in 1889, was bult on a floodplain at the fork of the Little Conemaugh and Stony Creek Rivers. When an old dam broke after a night of heavy rains on June 1, 1889, 20 million tons of water devastated the town and killed more than 2,200.
