The Area stretches for 140 miles along the Colorado River and includes Lake Mead behind Hoover Dam (completed in 1935) and Lake Mojave behind the Davis Dam (completed in 1953). The area spans 2,337, square miles in one of the hottest and driest regions on Earth. The Area offers visitors the chance to enjoy water sports and activities as well as desert hiking and sightseeing
