Pinelands National Reserve is the largest essentially undeveloped tract on the Eastern seaboard. It is noted for its massivve water resources with myriad marshes, bogs, ponds and the dwarfed pines from which it is named. Plant and animal diversity especially rate and endangered species and an ecosystem dependent upon periodic fires contributes to the area's character.
