Park Details:
A series of battles at Saratoga between American and British forces led by General John Burgoyne becan Sept 19, 1777 and ended 3 weeks later with 1,000 British casualties and less that 500 American deaths and Burgoynes surrender. This battle ended a British campaign throughout 1777 that the British hoped would divide New England from the rest of the colonies -- which they hoped would win the American Revolution.
