Park Details:
John Jacob Astor's American Fur Co. built Fort Union in 1828 near the junction of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers. In its heyday, the post was a busy place employing up to 100 people trading beaver furs, and buffalo robes utnil the 1860s when the fort was dismantled by the Army for materials to complete Fort Buforfd.
