Park Details:
Martin Van Buren purchased this estate, which he named Lindenwald, in 1839. The estate grew to 220 acres under his direction and was a profitable working farm as well as his retirement home for 21 years. With the architect Richard Upton, he remodeled the 1979 Federal house into an elegant eclectic Gothic/Italianate mansion where he could live out hist post-Wite House years in the comfort he relished
