Female Red-Winged Blackbird3 viewsA prime example of the female looking nothing like its male counterpart. This female red-winged blackbird has no red, nor is it even black.
Canadian_Goose-sm.jpg
Canadian Goose1 viewsNY State parks offer a lot of off-the-beaten track locations to do some birding, this is another example (and away from a golfcourse, the native habitat of the Canadian Goose).
cardinal-female01.jpg
Female Cardinal4 viewsI love getting shots of both the male and the female when shooting birds because they usually look totally different. The female cardinal looks enough like the male so you do know.
Egret-in-flight.jpg
Egret1 viewsThis is one of my favorite shots. It took 45 minutes of hanging out in a knee deep tidal pond in Orient, NY to get this, but it was worth it.
Gull.jpg
Gull2 viewsThis gull wanted the lobster that I was eating in Kennebunkport Maine in my first trip up there (beautiful town by the way).
mallard-female.jpg
Mallard (female)4 viewsThis is one of my favorite shots. I was noodling around off the coast of Long Island in my kayak when I saw her. She was obviously sitting on her nest and not going anywhere. I took the shot and got out of there, because I did not want her stressing over me.
Plover.jpg
Plover8 viewsThis was taken in a wildlife refuge just south of Kennebunkport Maine. God the skeeters were vicious.
Red_Tail-4-sm.jpg
Red Tail Hawk 27 viewsAnother shot of the red-tailed hawk (thanks John).
